Steinert vs Monroe Township Scrimmage

A Leonard Leap
I wasn't really sure what to expect at a scrimmage. I can't recall ever going to one. For the first ten minutes, both teams practiced their kicks. Then each team started drives from a point on the field and has so many plays with the ball. It was rather boring and unbearably hot. I cannot even form a clear opinion on either team. Both looked sloppy, but I guess that was to be expected.
Anyway, it got me out and enabled me to try out http://www.highschoolsports.net new bleacher section, which allows you to upload pictures to their site and them link them back to your gallery. Everything worked out pretty well on that end. The rest of the pics can be found here

Anthony Davis

Rutgers big coup last year was getting Anthony Davis of Piscataway to commit to them. Both Davis and Forst were heavily recruited by some premier programs, but decided on Rutgers instead. A few years ago that would have never happened. It will be very interesting to see how long it takes for Davis to see some playing time.

Art Forst commits to Rutgers

Art Forst, the 6'8'', 288 lbs Offensive Tackle from Manasquan has committed to Rutgers, according to Rivals.com. Forst is considered to be the top OL prospect in NJ and his committment to Rutgers marks the second year in a row Greg Schiano has been able to land the top NJ lineman. Congrats to Art Forst and Rutgers!

The picture to the left shows Forst pancaking a Matawan Regional defender during a 10/24/05 game. The picture is available for licensing or purchase at http://www.maxpreps.com/

Shore 44 Classic

I went to the annual Shore 44 Classic on July 20, 2007 featuring the All-Stars from Monmouth and Ocean County. Overall it was a good exciting game. Many others have commented on the poor officiating. There was one 85 yard pass play by Monmouth called back because of an inadvertent whistle. There was also a situation in the second half when Ocean was facing a critical 4th and 2 and Monmouth was flagged for having too many men on the line. I was on the Monmouth sideline and there was quite a bit of yelling regarding this point. According to the Monmouth coaches, in short yardage (less than two yards) you were allowed to put six men on the line. The referee said the four player max limit still applied. Ocean went on to score a touchdown a few plays later, which gave them an 11-10 lead, which was how the game ended. This was the last high school game these kids would ever play and maybe the last game some of them would ever play. They looked like they enjoyed themselves.

NJHSSports New Blog

Hello All,

I am starting this blog as a compliment to the HS Sports Photography I do in NJ. I go to a lot of different games and find that I sometimes want to comment on either my photos or the game itself. I'm trying to get this setup and all the bugs worked out before the start of the fall season. I will be posting links to my old photo galleries, as well as the new ones.
